Jin Feng Braised Pork Rice is a straightforward Taiwanese restaurant tucked into a busy corner of Roosevelt Road in Taipei's Zhongzheng District. This spot caters to those looking for a no-frills, budget-friendly meal rather than polished decor or leisurely dining. The interior is compact and often bustling, with seating that feels tight but functional, reflecting a vibe more about quick, satisfying eats than lingering over multiple courses.

The restaurant specializes in several comforting soup options—like pork thick soup (肉羹湯), pineapple bitter melon chicken soup (鳳梨苦瓜雞湯), and ginseng chicken soup (人參雞湯)—alongside their signature braised pork rice (滷肉飯) and other rice dishes. Portions are modest yet enough to leave you comfortably full without weighing you down. The star dish here is the braised pork rice: slow-braised pork belly that is tender and rich with five-spice flavors, served over fragrant rice, often paired with a perfectly seasoned braised duck egg and some blanched greens for balance.

Visitors will find a rhythm of efficiency—staff move quickly to clear and turn tables, so the dining experience can feel brisk and occasionally rushed. It's a place designed more for locals and travelers who want a quick, authentic taste of Taipei’s staple comfort food rather than a long, relaxed meal. Cleanliness is noticeable, particularly through well-maintained facilities and attentive staff.

This restaurant works best for solo diners or small groups who want a quick, flavorful bite during lunch or early dinner hours. It’s a practical stop for those curious about a classic Taiwanese dish without extra fuss, where price meets value in a convenient downtown setting.

If you’re not too focused on décor or fancy interiors, this little rice shop is honestly perfect. The portions aren’t huge, but they’re just right — enough to feel satisfied without being overly full. Our group of four ate comfortably, and everyone felt it was “just the right amount.” One thing I always look at to judge whether a restaurant is truly clean is the restroom and the staff. Here, both gave me a very good impression. Everything felt balanced and properly maintained — not trying too hard, but definitely enough to feel clean, reliable, and welcoming. It’s not the kind of place that’s exceptionally outstanding, yet in its own way, it is outstanding — in a simple, honest, and just-right kind of way.

Many said it's the best braised pork rice in taipei, also budget price, good value for money. Highly recommended

We came to Jin Feng, intrigued by the amount of reviews on Google Map. And we wanted to clarify the confusing mixed ratings. The restaurant was located on the corner. We could access it from the main street. We sit on the 1st floor. Ordered through using QR Code with our phone. We ordered: - Braised ground pork with rice Super soft melt in your mouth pork. The brown soup from the stew was super tasty. - Slow braised pork with rice - Pork thick soup The soup was thicker and there was a little tanginess from vinegar i guess. Refreshing but filling because of its consistency. - Deep fried tofu - Braised duck egg The food they served were seems like a home cooked meal that warm your body and comforting. The type of meal that Chinese moms cook for their family. Me & my family really enjoyed them. It's too harsh for a 3.8 star! I would definitely come back here on our next visit to Taiwan!

Jin Feng Braised Pork Rice is a small, crowded eatery famous among tourists and locals, but it can feel quite rushed once you’re inside. The seating is tight, and the staff moves fast to clear tables for the next customers. The braised pork rice is flavorful but not as exceptional as the hype suggests—just decent comfort food. Overall, it’s an okay experience if you’re nearby and curious to try, but definitely not worth lining up for.

Lunch at the legendary Jin Feng Braised Pork Rice, one of Taipei’s most iconic eateries for comfort food done right. Slow-braised pork belly over fragrant rice, melt-in-your-mouth tender and rich with five-spice flavor A perfectly seasoned braised duck egg, savory and silky Blanched greens drizzled with garlic-soy sauce for balance and crunch All this for just NT$130 (about $5.50 CAD). Simple, affordable, and deeply satisfying. This is Taiwanese soul food at its best. No frills, just line up, sit down, and let the flavors speak.

This place was quick and fast pace. Food was cheap and tasty. I wish I can go to this place as often but I was limited to time and at very least I got to try it and have it. Please come try it out for a very fast and cheap meal. I was able to feed myself, my mother and my aunt with the meal in the photo.
